Booze N Food 2024 - Taste of Middle Earth

Our Chefs have paired 6 scratch-made courses utilizing as much local flavor and ingredients as possible in each dish then cooked and served with their corresponding barrel aged beer (listed below).

This is our "Lord of the Rings" themed dinner and One of TWO final full tapping of the 2024 barreled beers. We couldn't be more delighted to pair them with the immense skill our chefs have shown.

5:30 - 9:00 - 6 course Taste of Middle Earth Dinner and Plenty of Beer!

- First course Bree Loaf: Fresh baked bread served with honeyed brie, whipped sundried tomato butter and fresh berries, paired with "Ahura Mazda" Spiced Orange Blossom Mead aged in a 1792 Bourbon barrel - 10.7%

- Second course Lindon Green Salad: Bright salad of arugula, radish sprouts, pomegranate seed, heirloom carrot, roasted beet and goat cheese, tossed in lemon vinaigrette, paired with "Robert Paulson" Burton ale aged in an Ezra Brooks Bourbon barrel - 10.1%

- Third course Gamgee Coney Stew: Locally raised smoked rabbit stew slow cooked with turnip, carrot, onion and peanut potatoes, paired with "Ojo Rojo: Crudo" Spiced Imperial Mexican Red ale aged in a Mezcal barrel - 8.8%

- Fourth course Rivendell Spiced Plum Sorbet: House made plum sorbet spiced with cinnamon and clove, served with lemon honey and matcha powder, paired with "Rhubo-Trippin’" Rhubarb Sour aged in our wild fermentation Hungarian barrel, lovingly called "the garbage can" - 8.2%

- Fifth course Zirakzigil Short Ribs: Short ribs braised in figs, onion and red wine, served with seared mushrooms, roasted local fingerling potatoes tossed in herb butter and topped with unctuous bordelaise, paired with "The Ambassador: Yukon Yeti" Eisbock aged in a Caribou Crossing Canadian whiskey barrel - 10%

- Sixth course Mount Doom Lava Cake: Rich devil's food chocolate bundt cake, filled and drizzled with a warm chocolate ganache, paired with "The Good, The Bad, The Baby" Imperial Oatmeal stout aged in a Yellowstone bourbon barrel - 8.8%

- First course Pizza Roll: Fresh in-house mozzarella, uncured pepperoni and slow-cooked bolognese wrapped in wonton and fried to a golden crisp, topped with fresh basil and served with house made yogurt ranch, paired with "The Ambassador: Yukon Yeti" Eisbock aged in a Caribou Crossing Canadian whiskey barrel - 10%

- Second course Tuna Salad: Seared ahi steak, whipped dill aioli, sweet ginger pickled onions, served with sourdough crostini and topped with local micro greens, paired with "Rhubo-Trippin’" Rhubarb Sour aged in our wild fermentation Hungarian barrel, lovingly called "the garbage can" - 8.2%

- Third course Chicken Noodle Soup: Smoked chicken consommé, handmade noodles, heirloom carrots, celery, roasted pearl onions and topped with fried shallot, paired with "Ojo Rojo: Crudo" Spiced Imperial Mexican Red ale aged in a Mezcal barrel - 8.8%

- Fourth course Yellow Snow: House made lemon granita, fresh whipped cream and mint tuile, paired with "Ahura Mazda" Spiced Orange Blossom Mead aged in a 1792 Bourbon barrel - 10.7%

- Fifth course Meatloaf Sandwich: Meatloaf made with 20 day dry-aged ribeye, bacon and beef sirloin, glazed with caramelized onion ketchup and sandwiched between shokupan milk bread. Served with house made steak fries tossed in rosemary butter and kasseri cheese, paired with "Robert Paulson" Burton ale aged in an Ezra Brooks Bourbon barrel - 10.1%

- Sixth course Cake Cone: Cinnamon waffle cones filled with layers of hazelnut cake and coffee mousse, topped with a hazelnut cake pop coated in a white chocolate shell, paired with "The Good, The Bad, The Baby" Imperial Oatmeal stout aged in a Yellowstone bourbon barrel - 8.8%

Mighty Monster BooFest 2024

Do you love great beer and Halloween? Then don’t miss the Mighty Monster BooFest at the Alaska State Fair! The popular annual brewfest takes place Saturday, October 26 from 6 – 10 p.m. at Raven Hall on the fairgrounds. This event is endorsed by the Brewers Guild of Alaska. All attendees, including designated drivers, must be 21+ and show a valid ID

There will be plenty of brews and Halloween fun at this year’s event, which will feature beers and brewers from the Mat-Su Valley, across Alaska and around the world. Among the featured local breweries are 49th State Brewing Co., Alaskan Brewing Co., Alaska Meadery, Bear Creek Winery, Bearpaw River Brewing Co. Bleeding Heart Brewery, Denali Brewing Co., Double Shovel Cider Co., Glacier Brewhouse, Hive Mind Meadery, Kassik’s Brewery, King Street Brewing Co., Lazy Mountain Brewing Co., Matanuska Brewing Co., Midnight Sun Brewing Co., Susitna Brewing, Turnagain Brewing, and 203 Kombucha. 

In celebration of Halloween weekend, there will be a new faster format for the costume contest with great prizes beginning at 8:00 p.m. Live music by Nervis Rex starts at 7 p.m., and a silent auction is also on the agenda for the evening. There will be beer friendly food available for purchase at Loco Mama’s, Espress Yourself, Honey Sourdough Jack’s Jerky, Grandma Wei’s, Bushes Bunches and the Nut House. 

Tickets are also available at Vagabond Blues, Three Bears on Palmer-Wasilla, and Purple Moose Espresso. Each $40 ticket comes with 20 3-ounce beer samples. Designated driver tickets are also available for $10, and includes a non-alcoholic beverage. Convenience fees apply. 

All attendees, including designated drivers, must be 21+ and show a valid ID. Brewfest patrons are reminded to plan in advance for a safe ride home by lining up a designated driver or planning to call a taxi.

OXtoberFest 2024

Cooler mornings, termination dust on Pioneer peak, and nights that actually get dark means it’s time to celebrate! This annual Farm-to-Table feast is hands down the best party in Southcentral Alaska! Alaska’s finest brass, lederhosen clad, Oom Pah band Alaska Blaskapelle churns out the polkas while warm heaters, cold bier, and hot Alaskan Grown food cheer your soul!​

Since the very first year we did this, this event has sold out, and we greatly appreciate everyone who supports this awesome event! For those with tickets, mark your calendar, polish off your polka, and get your lederhosen pressed, this will be another Oxtoberfest that people talk about for months to come.

When: Saturday, Oxtober 5th; doors and biergarten open at 5pm, and food and festivities kick off at 6pm.

Where: At the Musk Ox Farm in Palmer, Alaska.

General Admission: Outside in our Beer Tent, with a gorgeous view of the Musk Ox Farm, with the Talkeetna Mountains to the north, the Chugach Range to the south, and the world’s largest herd of musk oxen in human care in the fields. Your food is included and the first beverage is on us!

VIP Loft Seating: Join us upstairs in our renovated 1930's hayloft for an OXtoberfest VIP experience. You will have access to our observation deck with beautiful views of the farm, a plated meal seated indoors, Buzz’s Bakery crafted dessert, guided tour with enrichment for the musk oxen, and all drinks included.

What is included:

Feast: In every way possible, we bring locally grown, locally raised, locally made, and locally brewed deliciousness to your plate and cup. Your ticket includes an fantastic dinner in the Oxtoberfest tradition of brats, sauerkraut, German potato salad, and fresh pretzels!

Locally Crafted Beer and Cider: Alaska’s finest craft brewers offer up the absolute best selection of seasonal ales and brews to keep polka toes hopping!

Music: Alaska Blaskapelle, the 12-Piece Lederhosen-Clad, Brass Oompah Band will be there playing for us! Prepare to showcase your finest polka or waltz moves... or at the very least, be ready for an energetic chicken dance!

Talkeetna BrewFest

The 2024 Talkeetna Brewfest is set for Saturday, September 21st, from 2 – 6 PM.

Sample beers from 20+ breweries from across the state! It will be a weekend full of fun throughout the community.

The Talkeetna Brewfest will take place in the yard of our Talkeetna Campus. The Susitna Hall will be open for perusing…and bathrooms, of course! Besides tasting many unique brews from across our state, learn more about Denali Education Center, our programs, and hopes for the future. Funds raised benefit the many educational programs that DEC provides. A portion of the funds also supports the Brewers Guild of Alaska, a nonprofit trade association that promotes craft beer throughout Alaska!

The Kenai Peninsula Beer Festival is a FUNdraiser for the Rotary Club of Soldotna. The proceeds from this event are used for LOCAL projects. The event features beer and wine generously donated by the breweries/wineries in attendance. There will music and food available.

Join us on September 30, 2023, at the SubPort in downtown Juneau at Tracy's Crab Shack 2, next to the Coast Guard station (Noon for VIP check-in, 1:00 p.m. general check-in).

Mat-Su Taste of Hope, A Chefs' Competition

Taste of Hope is an American Cancer Society signature culinary and beverages event. Our 2023 inaugural Mat-Su event will feature some of the Mat-Su’s most popular restaurants and beverage vendors. Guests will enjoy a walk-around tasting where they can sample and vote on their favorite signature dish, mocktail, and cocktail, while also enjoying an exciting silent auction, wine pull, giving activities, and other entertainment.

The food competition will feature HeBrews Christian Cafe, Susitna Brewing Co, and Bleeding Heart Brewery.

The beverage competition will feature Susitna Brewing Co., Bleeding Heart Brewery, and Everett's.

VIP reception preceding the event beginning at 5pm featuring VIP beverage and appetizer and includes access to a VIP lounge throughout the event.
